Sniff Snack & Snooze

A person's love for their dog is only outweighed by the dog's love for their master.

Hi my name is Shelly, photographer and owner of Sniff Snack & Snooze Dog Furtography. I reside in Wetaskiwin, Alberta with my husband, Kevin and our 3 fur babies, Jimmy, Ruby and Lila. All of whom are my biggest fans and biggest inspirations.

My love of both animals and photography has led me here. I feel extremely fortunate to be doing what I do, combining two great loves and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with both. Capturing images that show the heart, soul, personality, energy, and love that make our companions so dear to us.

Taking pictures is not new to me as I have been doing photography for quite a few years now but it wasn't until 2013 when our fourth dog, Molly, a rescue, became suddenly ill at the age of 15. We had to make the most heartbreaking decision and say good bye and set her free from pain. She departed this earth and my side. To suddenly not have her around anymore was a huge shock. She took a huge part of my heart with her and it's been very difficult loss, but my husband, my three dogs and I are learning a new routine and slowly getting past the initial heartbreak. Although losing her was the most difficult thing I have experienced and while I will always have the wonderful memories of her close to my heart, the only photos I have of her are the few that I have shared with you here and I find myself always wishing that I had more. Not just snapshots, but a portrait to hang on the wall in her memory. I'm very grateful I was able to spend the last few years of her life together.

It was after Molly's passing that I was started tossing an idea around that I wanted to photograph dogs exclusively. I remember thinking that it was probably not possible, but there was no harm in dreaming. Sniff Snack & Snooze. These words were the beginning of a little idea that I never dreamed would become the reality of Sniff Snack & Snooze Dog Furtography today. Looking at it now, I laugh as I know that the name came to me quite easily as I was simply thinking about what beagles really do.

I owe the inspiration for Sniff Snack & Snooze Dog Furtography to Molly. She has taught me many important life lessons about patience, loyalty, strength and unconditional love. Dedicated to all of my fur babies, Sniff Snack & Snooze Dog Furtography is named after my 4 beagles. Their antics put a smile on my face and their goofy expressions warm my heart each day and I LOVE each and every one of you.
